Three hundred and eighty kilometres — the longest routine drive we do, and arguably the most beautiful. It's a proper full-day journey from the Punjab plains, up through Jammu and Patnitop, over the Jawahar Tunnel and down into the Kashmir Valley.
NH44 out of Pathankot, through Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur, Patnitop (2,024 m), and the 2.85 km Jawahar Tunnel that punches through the Pir Panjal range and drops you into Kashmir at Banihal. From there it's Anantnag, Awantipora, and finally Srinagar at 1,585 m. Total drive time 8 hours in good weather — plan a full day.
The NH44 is not a road for a rookie in monsoon or winter. Our drivers have done this drive in every season, including the December snow closure of the Jawahar Tunnel.
Innova Crysta or Force Urbania — nothing smaller. Eight hours in a Dzire is not what you want to do to a family.
We plan Srinagar → Gulmarg → Pahalgam → Sonmarg circuits with a single vehicle and driver for the whole tour.
What you'll pass and where the drive breaks — useful if you're planning tea stops or sightseeing detours.
